The Community Builder’s Challenge, created by Red Nose Day In School and the LEGO Group's Build The Change team, was designed to help your students imagine solutions for everyday problems they see around them: Are there ways to make it easier for everyone to play together? What if you could change how to share food? How about a new green space for a neighborhood with no grass or trees?
Help them see the world they want to live in, and then bring their vision to life.
When your students are free to explore and learn through play, there are so many imaginative possibilities to build brighter communities.

Watch the instructional video with your class and start dreaming. Plan what your community might need — check out the Inspiration Sheet in the free activity packet to get ideas flowing.
Encourage your students to design and create their awesome ideas using any classroom supplies that spark their creativity, from paper, glue, crayons, and clay to LEGO® bricks, feathers, popsicle sticks.
Bring all your builds together into an inspiring community. Name and describe your amazing creations. Just remember that every build needs to find a spot for a Red Nose at its heart to ensure positivity and inclusion for all.

Hand out Master Builder Certificates to everyone in your classroom to honor their outstanding contributions (it’s included in your Activity Packet!).
The winning classroom will receive LEGO bricks worth a value of at least $599USD. Submit your community by May 15th for a chance for your students to be crowned the most amazing, creative, out-of-the-box thinkers around. Our panel of judges will announce the winner in May! Upload your project here.

Meet your fellow architects! Check out the ideas below and inspire each other to build your own ways to make a difference and solve problems in your community.
If you are feeling sad or upset you can come to the colorful garden and sit down on a bench to calm down, look at the flowers and be welcomed by the people there. You can even make a friend.
A store for the community where everything is free for everyone including dogs and pets.
A place for everyone to have fun! You can dance, swim, ride a bike and pet dogs at the park.
A home for trees, plants and flowers to grow big and strong. It is powered by the sun using the special solar roof. Everyone is welcome to take a flower when they feel sad.
This is a hospital that has two parts - one side treats the person who is sick. The other side teaches people about the illness. It is open for all. The Red Nose provides all the power for the building.
A dog park with a stone wall where people can dip their hands in paint and place them on the wall. They write something nice or encouraging next to their hands and their name, then if people are feeling sad they can look for words of encouragement and play with a dog. The welcome sign also has braille on it so those who are blind can know what its about too.
This studio is a place for people to come to make, record or learn music. The Red Nose is the amplifier at the top so that everyone around the community can hear the music. It will change people's hearts, make them happy and they can dance in the streets.

Red Nose Day in School is a free educational program designed to teach young students about the impacts of poverty on children, foster empathy building, and celebrate acts of kindness in the classroom and beyond.
