The Community Builders Challenge, has ended for this school year.  We want to congratulate the 2nd Grade Classes at Ehrman Crest Elementary School in Cranberry Township, PA for winning this year's Challenge.

Empower your students to use their creativity skills to build awesome new communities that support everybody and have a positive impact.

The Community Builder’s Challenge, created by Red Nose Day In School and the LEGO Group's Build The Change team, was designed to help your students imagine solutions for everyday problems they see around them: Are there ways to make it easier for everyone to play together? What if you could change how to share food? How about a new green space for a neighborhood with no grass or trees?

Help them see the world they want to live in, and then bring their vision to life.

GET INSPIRED

Watch the instructional video with your class and start dreaming. Plan what your community might need — check out the Inspiration Sheet in the free activity packet to get ideas flowing.

GET BUILDING

Encourage your students to design and create their awesome ideas using any classroom supplies that spark their creativity, from paper, glue, crayons, and clay to LEGO® bricks, feathers, popsicle sticks.

GET RED NOSEY

Bring all your builds together into an inspiring community. Name and describe your amazing creations. Just remember that every build needs to find a spot for a Red Nose at its heart to ensure positivity and inclusion for all.

This community was created by 4 second grade classrooms. The students came together to build one giant "futuristic community." This community features many amazing places like a Kindness Park, The Museum of Imagination, and even Empathy Avenue! The kids put so much time and effort to plan and create this amazing community! We hope you enjoy learning about it!

Living and Learning Hospital

This is a hospital that has two parts - one side treats the person who is sick. The other side teaches people about the illness. It is open for all. The Red Nose provides all the power for the building.

Positivity Park

Positivity Park

A dog park with a stone wall where people can dip their hands in paint and place them on the wall. They write something nice or encouraging next to their hands and their name, then if people are feeling sad they can look for words of encouragement and play with a dog. The welcome sign also has braille on it so those who are blind can know what its about too.

Red Nose Day in School is a free educational program designed to teach young students about the impacts of poverty on children, foster empathy building, and celebrate acts of kindness in the classroom and beyond. This year-round program includes lesson plans, routines and videos to help students practice core reading and writing skills while also helping them realize their power to make a difference for others.
