What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day raises life-changing funds to help end the cycle of poverty for children and families by ensuring they are safe, healthy, educated, and empowered across the U.S. and around the world. The year-round campaign uses the power of entertainment to drive positive social change.

Red Nose Day is known for its iconic Red Nose, which symbolizes hope and positive change. Donning Red Noses celebrates the campaign’s annual tradition of people coming together to have fun, raise funds, and make a real difference in the lives of children facing poverty.

Since 2015, Red Nose Day has raised over $370 million, positively impacting more than 35 million children and families in the US and around the world by providing access to basic health services, food, shelter, education, and more.

Who is the organization behind Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day in the United States is a program of Comic Relief Inc. dba Comic Relief US, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Comic Relief US, the nonprofit organization behind Red Nose Day, is committed to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Red Nose Day donations are invested in grantee partners and social impact programs that ensure children are safe, healthy, educated and empowered, and that address the root causes of poverty in the most impacted communities.

The campaign returns for its tenth year with Red Nose Day being celebrated in the U.S. on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Where can I get a Red Nose?

This year, we are excited to announce a fun, free Red Nose Day filter for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Snapchat. Physical Red Noses will not be available for sale this year.

Where does the money go?

Red Nose Day supports more than 50 trailblazing nonprofit organizations across the US and around the world that provide essential services and address the immediate needs of children facing poverty while striving to ensure and/or sustain long-term solutions that set children up for a lifetime of success. I would like to donate. How can I send in my contribution?

Online: Donating online at RedNoseDay.org is the best way to support our work. The process is simple and secure - and best of all, your gift will reach us right away. You can make a one-time or monthly gift using any major credit card, PayPal, ApplePay or through your bank account (ACH/Wire).

Donations to the Red Nose Day are tax-deductible to the extent provided by U.S. law. Please note we cannot accept non-cash goods or items as donations (e.g. canned food, clothing, toiletries).

Tax Receipts: For donations made online, you'll receive a tax receipt for your records via email right away.For donations sent by mail, please include your email address if you wish to receive a digital tax receipt, or your return address to receive a printed tax receipt via U.S. mail. It may take up to 6-8 weeks to receive a printed tax receipt.

If you collected money from others, and want to pay in online without setting up a page: You can turn in your fundraising dollars here.

By Mail: If you've collected checks while fundraising, please make sure they are made payable to "Comic Relief Inc." so you can send them in on behalf of your supporters by using the official Fundraising Check Mail-In.

*Please note if you are turning in money raised through a Red Nose Day fundraiser you are not able to claim a tax deduction for that contribution amount.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Comic Relief Inc. — also known as Comic Relief US — is the nonprofit behind Red Nose Day. It is a 501(c)(3) organization with Federal Tax ID 01-0885377. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Can I use payroll giving to make a regular donation to Red Nose Day from my pay?

Yes – if your employer operates a payroll giving program then you can set up a regular deduction from your pay and request that it comes to Red Nose Day at Comic Relief Inc. Please ask your employer for more information.

I know that my employer operates a matched giving program. How can I get them to match my donation?

Once you make a donation, follow your company's internal matching gift procedure and submit your matching gift request to them. They will process this and send it to us.

You can also download your company's matching gift verification form. Then print, fill it out, and mail it to CRUS with your check or online donation receipt to:
