UnidosUS is a Red Nose Day grantee partner doing amazing work in their community to ensure Latino children get access to the healthcare they need. They provide whole-person healthcare, including vision, hearing, dental, and developmental screenings. Their phenomenal work is funded by grants through Red Nose Day and local community agencies.

“This community, it’s a family,” says Ida Eguia, the community coordinator for RCMA, a school in Immokalee, Florida. Eguia says that healthcare services in Immokalee are “limited,” and that UnidosUS helps children and their families access healthcare services that may otherwise be out of reach. Juana Brown, RCMA’s Director of Charter Schools, says that they realized education could be the catalyst that allows them to serve not just the students, but multi-generational families.

Watch to see how UnidosUS is keeping kids healthy – and why it’s only possible thanks to your support.

Santos, a student at RCMA Community School, is one of those children. Santos and his parents are from Guatemala. He was able to receive free dental care through the partnership that UnidosUS has with his school.

The pandemic has shown the need for everyone to have access to quality healthcare. Unfortunately, Latino families are one of the groups who are disproportionately affected by disparities in healthcare. More than 10.8 million Latinos in the United States don’t have healthcare coverage. It’s hard to do well in school or in life when your most basic needs – including healthcare – are unmet. It’s because of the generous support of donors like you that Red Nose Day is able to help provide children with the healthcare they deserve. If we want healthy communities, we need to have healthy children.
